Supported by Innovate UK, the Office for Low Emission Vehicles and the Department for Business Innovation and Skills, the Niche Vehicle Network is an independent association of over 400 niche vehicle manufacturers, specialist technology and supply chain companies. With funded collaborative research and development activities in low carbon vehicle technologies, including electric and hybrid propulsion, lightweight chassis structures, engine efficiency, alternative fuels and aerodynamics, the Niche Vehicle Network is a valuable partner for AIE.

Through funded strategic and collaborative projects, the Niche Vehicle Network has supported AIE (UK) Ltd in validating new concepts, improving the efficiency and emissions of their world-class rotary engines and testing new innovations for low carbon sports vehicles.

The proving factory

As a unique automotive manufacturing and assembly organisation, The Proving Factory works to bridge the market gap between technology developers making innovative, low-carbon engineering prototypes and the needs of vehicle manufacturers for volume supply. Following its launch in early 2013 The Proving Factory is set up to partner with companies such as AIE (UK) Ltd to facilitate and manufacture large quantities of technology within the Proving Factory facilities, as well as additional support for AIE’s in-house production capabilities.

With the opportunity to manufacture around 200,000 units per year, the Proving Factory supports AIE to expand its potential in establishing production processes and demonstrate the ability to supply high-volume production solutions.

The Advanced Propulsion Centre UK Limited (APC) is an industry wide collaboration of innovators and producers of low carbon propulsion systems with the objective of providing profitable growth and sustainable opportunities for all partners; ultimately positioning the UK as a centre of excellence for low carbon propulsion development.

Formed in 2013 as a £1 billion, ten-year commitment between government and the automotive industry, the Advanced Propulsion Centre fully supports AIE (UK) Ltd through access to funding and collaborative expertise within their Technology Developer Accelerator Programme (TDAP). The programme will enable AIE to transform innovative concepts for advanced propulsion technologies and hybrid-electric solutions to market ready products for the automotive industry.

NATEP

Managed by ADS the UK national aerospace body, the National Aerospace Technology Exploitation Programme (NATEP) is a is a £40m Technology Development Programme that supports small to medium sized suppliers to develop innovative aerospace technologies, boost productivity and increase abilities to compete and win new business around the globe. The NATEP programme is unique in that it offers support, not just in funding but with technical expertise, business advice and mentoring.

Through the NATEP partnership and grant funding, AIE is able to spearhead collaborative projects using provider expertise and revolutionary technology to deliver innovative solutions for next generation unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

As the UK’s Innovation Agency and non-departmental public body, Innovate UK work with companies and partner organisations to identify and drive the science and technology developments that will help future economic growth in the UK. Through funding and support, Innovate UK work to remove barriers and risk surrounding research and development for businesses such as AIE (UK) Ltd, enabling innovation to thrive and business to grow. With generous funding grants, Innovate UK has supported AIE to develop market-leading technology for electric vehicle range extender units and reliable rotary engine developments for hybrid-electric vehicles.

Since 2007 Innovate UK have helped more than 7,600 organisations with projects estimated to add more than £11.5 billion to the UK economy and create 55,000 extra new jobs.

Coventry University Enterprises Limited (CUE Ltd), a subsidiary of Coventry University Higher Education Corporation, is the organisation through which the University runs much of its commercial, income-generating and business-partnership work. CUE focuses on innovation, design, high performance automotive engineering, health, environment and ICT as areas of expertise. Through this activity it has to date supported thousands of small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) through specific projects and support programmes.

More than 200 SMEs have been established with the support of CUE and many more have benefited from one-to-one involvement. Funding through CUE-managed projects has allowed AIE (UK) Ltd to accelerate advancements for the research and development of electric vehicle (EV) technology; attracting new investments and business into the UK’s West Midlands area.

Established as a Centre of Excellence for Low Carbon and Fuel Cell Technologies, Cenex is an independent, not-for-profit organisation that specialises in the delivery of consultancy, projects, research and events to support innovation and market development for low carbon vehicles and associated infrastructure.

Cenex with its wide ranging expertise in low carbon transport makes an ideal knowledge and delivery partner for AIE, helping to maximise deliverables and reduce risk. Partnering with Cenex with research, sponsored programmes and exhibitions such as Cenex Low Carbon Vehicle Event supports AIE in delivering their range of innovative technologies and engines for the Low Carbon Vehicle industry.
